Installing Git

MacOS

Git is installed by default alongside Xcode, but if you want to make sure you are running the latest version, you may install another version by installing MacPorts or Homebrew and installing one of their packages for git.

Linux

Git should be easy to install via your default package manager. For instance in a Debian-based distro (such as Ubuntu) you can likely use the command

sudo apt install git-all

Windows

If you have installed one of the POSIX shells reccomended here, you should be able to install git with the accompanying package manager, or via chocolatey if using cmd.exe or powershell.
