Treehouse Lecture: agree grammar engineering environment

In this talk I present the status of my work on a new processing environment for typed feature structure (TFS) unification grammars. HPSG grammars such as those developed within the DELPH-IN consortium are at the forefront of rule-based grammar research; a cornerstone of this progress has been the adoption, within DELPH-IN, of a standard authoring language, TDL, for the description of natural language grammars. Existing systems for processing TDL grammars include the LKB (Copestake 2000) and PET (Callmeier 2001). My new system, " agree," strengthens and cross-validates the DELPH-IN toolset, and runs on Windows, Linux and Mac. A research objective of the project is to investigate the efficiency of a new, diffuse structure for the internal representation of TFSs, and I'll review some preliminary performance results. I also hope to have time for a few short demos, including early integration of the tool with the website.
