---++ IPA

IPA input support is provided by the IPA-X-SAMPA input method.
   * *Activation:* Activate SCIM the normal way (Ctrl-Space-Shift), then click the language selector, click _Other_, and choose _IPA-X-SAMPA_.
   * *Character tables:* This input method follows the X-SAMPA phonetic alphabet. The [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-SAMPA][X-SAMPA Wikipedia page]] has a good overview.
   * <strong>Source package: </strong>scim-tables-additional
   * *Other notes:* There seem to be font encoding issues with this input method and Emacs -- characters entered with it come out as blank squares. Emacs has its own IPA input method that works fine, however.
