`Voice marking' is a phenomenon seen in some western Austronesian<br /> languages, such as Tagalog and Indonesian. I will define what is meant<br /> by this term and discuss the preliminary survey of the types of voice<br /> marking systems found in these languages. This initial investigation<br /> into voice marking shows that it does not merely signal syntactic<br /> functions, but also seems to have additional discourse functions.<br /> <br /> I give a brief overview of the implementation of voice in !IndoGram<br /> (Indonesian !ParGram), and talk about possible implementation of voice<br /> that has implications beyond the single sentence.
