Once this is done please log out and log back in to patas to ensure all variables are refreshed.

When logging into patas please ensure xforwarding is properly enabled. Depending on system and ssh version this may be a "-x" or "-X" or "-y" or "-Y" flag. Most commonly it is "-X", but at least on some macs, -Y seems to work best.

ie "ssh -X username@dryas.ling.washington.edu"

Further tips:

You need an x-windows manager on your local computer. For Macs, this is usually XQuartz.

Dryas usually has less traffic so is probably the better choice for this.
